What is the Local Offer?
The Local Offer www.readingsendlocaloffer.org is for:
• Disabled children and young people (under 25) and their families
• Children and young people with special educational needs. Special educational needs are when you need extra support to learn things.
The Local Offer should:
• make it easier to find out what you need to know tell you what is available
• tell you where you can get more information.
The Local Offer must tell you about:
• schools, colleges or training
• how children and young peoples’ needs are identified and assessed
• Special health support
• Hobbies or fun things to do
• Support for becoming an adult
• Transport
• Where you can find out more information
• Who can help you or what you can do if you are unhappy.
How can I get involved?
The Local Authority must ask people what they should put in their Local Offer.
They should also ask people what they think about the Local Offer.
The Local Authority must show everyone what people have said and explain how they are going to make it better.
Reading IASS can help you to find your Local Offer. We can also help you to tell the Local Authority what you think about the Local Offer.
